This undersea drone is the Navy’s latest tool to defend the Persian Gulf vs. Iran.
The Navy has begun deploying the mine-busting submersible drones in the contested Strait of Hormuz, officials told the Los Angeles Times. When one of the 4-foot-long, 88-pound devices detects an underwater mine, it charges ahead like a kamikaze pilot and detonates a small explosive that blows itself and its target to smithereens.
